WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accordance
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from April 1, 1958 to April 159 1958 inclusive
which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of
the Department of Public Utilities for more than eight hours per
day or forty hours per week in doing the following works

Checking bus schedules and loadings,
Supervising the activities of the City Market, and
Making concrete block tests,
and
WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circum-
stances:
To obtain latest information on schedules and
loadings on Sunday bus service, i,,;'•
Work made necessary because of•maike' being open
on Good Friday, legal holiday;•and
Completion of tests requiring continuous,attention;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, thatthe proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the
employees who performed such work in accordance with the pro -
visons of the Councilts Salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
