WHOM, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accordance
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from October lst to October 15th 1958 inc., which`
rendered necessary the employment of. certain employees of the Water
Department for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per
week in doing the following work:,
1) Repairing Filtration Plant equipment:
2 Working extra shifts at various stations
3 Changing over to nefr equipment at Mississippi River Station.
4 Watching Water Dept. equipment and property at Filtration Plant,
5 Taking emergency calls at Storeyard. .
6) Finishing installatibn of,_and repairing water mains and service
connections.
�7j Driving country crew to and from work locations.
8 Filling copper sulphate hoppers.
AND WHEREAS,, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
1 & (3) Necessary to do work during low consumption hours.
2 Illness of employees on regular shifts:
4 &',(5) Nights, Sundays and Holiday.
6 _In order to speed repairs and installations:
�7 On account of scattered work locations.
8) Constant treatment necessary.
THMWOREi,BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby
authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance
with the provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance, Ordinance 2
No. 6446 _ -
