WHEREAS, the members of the Council of the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota are sincerely of.the belief that the acquisition of a major league professional baseball club in Saint Paul would be an outstanding and immeasurable advantage to the City and its people, and our community and commercial activity; and WHEREAS, the location of such a major league professional baseball team in this metropolitan center would attract visitors and baseball fans from all over the Northwest to view major league baseball; and WHEREAS, from time to time, in the months preceding, the members of this Council and its representatives, the members of the Mayor's Baseball Committee and enthusiastic civic - minded citizens have engaged in conferences with the owners of some / of the clubs in the major leagues with the aim in mind of inducing l them to study carefully the wonderful opportunities of bringing their baseball club to Saint Paul and to make their home in our ,new Midway Stadium; and WHEREAS,`it does appear that to make the present Stadium suitable for the playing therein of major- league baseball, it would be imperative that the seating capacity be measurably increased; now, therefore be it RESOLVED, that the members of the Council of the City of Saint Paul, in view of the foregoing, do hereby commit this Council to a present expression of willingness to vote affirmatively the proposition of a revenue bond issue to secure sufficient funds to enlarge Midway Stadium for the purposes herein expressed,payment of the principal and interest of said issue to be made solely from the revenues derived from the operation of the Stadium and all the attractions therein carried on. Such willingness of this Council to vote such a revenue bond issue is made contingent upon the execution of a lawful contract between this City and a major league baseball club, mutually advantageous to both parties, providing major league professional baseball in Midway Stadium.
