Dear Commissioner;
LOUIS P. SHEAHAN
SPECIAL ASSISTANT
I
I-am sending herewith a letter and prints which were received
by me from Mr. George E. Peterson, Division Supervisor, Land and Claims,
of the Northern States Power Company. The letter is self— explanatory.
Why this letter was directed to me in the first place instead of to
yourself as ;Commissioner, I have no idea.
However, in view of expediting the matter, I have dra.ftedu'
a resolution for the granting of the permit requested by the Company,
which I am transmitting to you for your study, together with the
complete file which I received from Mr. Peterson of the Northern States
Power Company.
I
In view of the fact that this proposed line runs across
Park property, the installation, of course, should have the approval
of Commissioner Holland, and in view of the Parks Department approval,
I am sending a copy of this letter and a copy of the resolution, with
a copy of Mr' Peterson's letter to Commissioner Holland so that you two
Commissioners in whose Departments this matter lies may jointly consult
concerning it.

This is our application for a permit to extend a 6" gas main through
Highland Park from a point on W. Seventh Street, 840' east of the east
property line of Rankine Street to a point on Edgecumbe Road, 650' east
of the east property line of Shelby Place. -
The main will run parallel to and approximately 30' northeasterly of an
existing sewer in this area as shown on the enclosed prints.
Mr. W. IaMont Kaufman, Superintendent of Parks,.approved the course to
be followed. He also suggested, in view of the steep grade from W. Seventh
to Edgecumbe Roadithat we protect the installation trench against future
erosion. This will be done.
I
The purpose of this gas main is to provide additional capacity for industrial
and coomrcial gas users in the W. Seventh Street area.
Will you please plrocess this request through the proper channels and inform
us of the action taken thereon.
Yours truly,
NORT TA OWJ
