An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 7607, entitled:
"An ordinance fixing the duties and responsi-
bilities. and the minimum qualifications for the various classes
of positions in the Classified Service of the City,"
approved February 13, 1935, as amended.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No 7607, approved February 13,
1935, as amended, be and the same is. hereby further amended by striking
out the,, specifications for Accounting Clerk; and, by inserting in their
proper' alphabetical order the following specifications for:

Uuties,and responsibilities:
Under supervision, to do routine bookkeeping work; and to perform
related work as.assigned.
Examples of work performed:
To keep perpetual inventory records for a large storehouse.
To assist in making audits of cash accounts.
To post data to various accounts.
To make entries on appropriation ledgers of disbursements and
receipts.
To maintain financial records of small divisions, including receipts,
disbursements and billings.
To prepare requisitions.
To prepare payrolls.
To prepare budgets.
To reconcile vouchers payable to control accounts.
Minimum qualifications:
High school graduation and five years' clerical experience, at least
two years of which must have been as.a senior clerk.

COST CLERK
Duties and responsibilities;
Under supervision, to distribute costs for labor, material and
equipment to the various specific projects in a large city
department; and to perform related work as assigned.
Examples of work performed:
To compute. costs and to poet records to proper accounts.
To reconcile total costs on projects with total outlay.
To determine proper coding for e3:penditures.
To prepare cost statements for division heads.
To maintain inventory account records.
To supervise clerks in cost and inventory work.
To make ®imple analyses of cost records and make recommend-
ations for improvements.
Minimum qualifications:
High, school graduation and six years' clerical experience, at least
three years of which must have been as a senior clerk.

Duties and responsibilities:
Under supervision, to keep the financial records for a small
bureau or department, or to keep books on specific accounts
in a large bureau or department; and to perform related work
as assigned.
Examples of work performed:
To keep records of the requisition, purchase, and receipt of supplies
and the expenditures involved,
To post data to various accounts and to make trial balances.
To maintain accounts including cash books, voucher registers and
general ledgers.
To prepare financial statements, including balance dhoot, profit
and loss statements and capital surplus, and reconciliation
sheet`s.
To prepare budgets.
To maintain inventory records.
To supervise clerks.
Minimum qualifications;
High school graduation and seven years' clerical experience, at least
two years of which must have been as an Accounting Clerk or Cost
Clerk.
