RESOLVED, that a permit be granted to Columbia Transit
Company to increase the number of gasoline pumps and islands
from two to four, and to increase the underground gasoline
storage capacity from 10,000 gallons to 20,000 gallons, for
private use in conjunction with applicant's charter bus business,
on property located adjacent to the east of Snelling Avenue and
north of and adjoining the Northern Pacific Railway right -of -way,
in accordance with plans approved December 18, 1958, said
installation to be made under the direction and to the satisfaction
Of the Commissioner of Public Safety.

Dear Sir:
This is in the matter of the application of the Columbia Transit Company to
increase the number of•their gasoline pumps and islands from two to four, and
to increase the underground gasoline storage capacity from 10,000 gallons to
20,000 gallons for private use in conjunction with °the applicant's charter bus
business, and the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company storage garage now under
construction.,.,Their property is located adjacent to the east of- Snelling Avenue
.and north of aiid adjoining the northern Pacific R. R. R/W,[ The zoning of this
property is Heavy Industrial. A public hearing is not required.
The .legal description of this property is as follows: subject to and with ease-
ment; the south 200 feet of the north 1,256 feet of the east 500 feet of the
west 1,160 feet of the northwest quarter of Sec. 27, T 29, R 23, also with ease=
meant in Doc. 1349457 and subject to easement over south 20 feet,. the south 200 feet
of the north 1;256 feet of the east 490 feet of the west 660 feet of the northwest
quarter of,Sec: 27, T 29, R 23. This is an odd shaped tract of land having an
area of 194,000 square feet, or 4.5 acres.
The land to the west is developed with a filling station fronting on Snelling
Avenue; to the' north is a;car storage lot; to the east is 'undeveloped land; to
the south is the Northern Pacific RR R/W. Field investigation discloses no _
objection to the applicant's request, and the plans submitted meet "the required
standards for this type installation.
In consideration of the above factors, the Board of Zoning recommends that this
application be granted in accordance with plans approved on December 18, 1958.

In regard to the application of the Columbia Transit
Company fo,r permission to remodel their filling station located
at 1102 No,. Snelling Avenue.-
We have investigated the foregoing and report that they
wish to install 2 islands, 2 pumps, and 1- 10,000 gallon underground
gasoline storage tank. This installation will be installed in
accordance with the rules and regulations of the National Board
of Fire Underwriters and the St. Paul Fire Prevention Code.
I, therefore, recommend that permit be granted.
