I met with you and Mr. Edward K. Delaney, County Commissioner and Chairman of the Welfare Committee, Mr. Monick .and Mr. Mitchell, to. discuss ther anticipated deficit in Direct Relief funds for the remainder of 1958. At that time, it was agreed that a report would be made, to you, Members of the City Council and Board- "of County Commissioners, .Mr. Monick and Mr. Mitchell, with regard to- the-,status of funds, and anticipated requirements for the remainder of 1958. I submitted .a report to= the Ramsey County Welfare Board at its regular meeting, on November 18. It appears at this time we will need at least $301, 000. 00. We. anticipate that the Ancker Hospital receipts in excess of the amount estimated for- 1958 will amount to approximately this same amount. The; County Welfare Board voted to request the St. Paul City Council and the. Ramsey County Board of Commissioners to approve the: transfer of funds from the Ancker Hospital Account to the Direct Relief Account at this time. The .County Welfare Board will submit a report to the City Council and the Board of County Commissioners after the first of December in order that you may be kept informed as to the actual status. of the.se two accounts. It appears, at the present time that it will-be unne<eessary for the City Council and Board of County Commissioners to appropriate additional funds for Direct Relief for the balance of 1958. However, if there is any change in the employment, picture, and the relief costs appear to be. inc easing beyond the present anticipated figure, we will notify you. ( W ours, uth L.
