Holland — Resolved, That the proper city offi- cers are hereby authorized to pay certain employes in the Department of Parks, Playgrounds & Public Build- for extra employment as de- scribed in the resolution. Adopted by the Council November 19, 1958. Approved November 19, 1958. .• (November 22, 1958) WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from November 1 to 1.5, 1958, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of rafts., Play- grounds and Public Buildings for more than eight hours per daffy or forty hours per week in. doing the following work= Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and play- grounds and of their facilities. And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the follow- ing facts and circumstances: Seasonal requirements for protection of public property and pursuit of departmental activities, such as: Tending boilers for the Greenhouse and Zoo; repairs to equipment when forced by necessity to do the work after regular hours; municipal athletics and sports and various other recreation programs and activities requiring services beyond regular time. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees -who per- formed such work in accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
