Please take notice that Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis -and Omaha
Railway Company and Chicago and North Western Railway Company, being fie

owners of that certain tract or parcel of-land hereinafter described.,
part of which is to be taken or appropriated, hereby object to the pro-
posed award of damages and the proposed assessment of alleged benefits,
involved in, growing out of, or connected with that certain so- called
improvement described in Council file No. 187017, copy whereof is
hereunto annexed; and in respect thereto respectfully shows to the
council:'
1. Objectors are the owners of so much of the property proposed
to be condemned and appropriated as�lies within Government Lot 4. Section
12, Township 28 North, Range 23 West, Fourth Principal meridian.
2. The award of damages made or proposed to be made for the
acquisition of the property to be appropriated is so inadequate as to
constitute confiscation thereof,,and without just compensation and without
due process of law; the valuation of the property proposed to be taken
is not a fair or adequate valuation; and the damage for severance thereof
from the remainder of the tract and consequential damages to the remainder
is inadequate.
3. The assessment proposed of alleged benefits from this so- called
improvement is excessive and exhorbitant; there are in truth and in fact no
special benefits whatever to this property or to the'remainder of the tract,
or to the property, of these objectors; and any benefits realized by anyone
from this improvement are general benefits accruing to the City of Saint
Paul generally and not to this property beyond or in addition to benefits
accruing to the entire city.
4. For more particular reference there is hereto attached a
