The Commissioner of Public Works, having had under consideration
the preliminary order of the Council, known as Council File No. 186953 ,
approved April-11th. , 19_�8 , relative to the construction of a
monolithic concrete sidewalk on the south side of Bohland Ave. from Howell St.
to Cleveland Ave except where satisfactory sidewalk exists.
and having investigated the matters and things referred to therein, hereby
reports:
1. Said improvement is X necessary and (or) desirable.

of remonstrance with reference to the order f r in-

the addition of two signatures the petition is now
sufficient.

ERK Dear Council Members:
The construction of sidewalks m the South Side of
Bohland from Rowell to C &dveland as proposed under your
Preliminary Order No. 186953 would present many problems
to the properties involved.
We have secured the signature of 60o of the property
owners involved and 75% of the total frontage involved protesting
the construction of said walks. That petition is enclosed
herewith.
We realize the necessity of having walks for the children
to go to St. l+eds' School. However, the school is sitibad on the
North Side of Bohland and we understand that side walks on the
North Side of Bohland from Fairview to Kanneth have been petitioned
for and are to be constructed. We see no necessity for construction
of side walks on both sides of Bohland inasmuch as the children
can,use the walks on the North Side avoiding the necessity of
crossing the street more than once on their way to and from school.
We have talked with the school authorities regarding this, and they
agree the side walks on the north side are all they would need and
that walks on that side would be more satisfactory in taking care
of the children.
