FILE Cotthctl -File No. 188794 —By Bernard T: Holland— Resolved, That the proper city offi- cers are hereby authorized to pay certain employes in the, Department of Parks, Playgrounds & Publlc•Build- ip�s for extra employment as. described in the resolution. Adopted by the Council August 19, 1958. Approved August 19, 1958. , (August 23, 1958) WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53 r of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency j during the period from August 1 to 15, 1958, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work:, Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and play- grounds and of their facilities. ; And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances: Seasonal requirements for protection of public property and pursuit of departmental activities; such as: Heavy week -end patronage of public , parks and their facilities, the Zoo, Conserv- atory, picnic grounds, refectories, ball fields, ' golf courses, Phalen Beach and Highland -Pool; wind damage to boulevard trees created hazardous situations requiring immediate attention; and a breakdown at the municipal asphalt plant had to be fixed without delay. C THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who per- formed such work in accordance with the-provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
