WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accordance
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from July 16, 1958 to July 31, 1958 inclusive
which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of
the Department of Public Utilities for more than eight hours per
day or forty hours per week in doing the following works
Checking bus schedules and loadings,
Supervising the activities of the City Market,
Making concrete block tests, and
Making emergency repairs to street lighting circuits,
and
WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circum-
stances:
Submission by the Street Railway Company of proposed
schedule changes,
Saturday work made necessary because of increased
activity at the City Market, - y

therefore, be it (August 2, 1958)
RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the
employees who performed such work in accordance with the pro-
visions of the Council's Salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
