W)IERM, the Coamnissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accordance
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from July 16th to July 31st 1958 inc., which
rendered necessary the employment of.certain employees of the Water
Department for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per
I week in doing the following work:
(1) Inspecting and locating gate boxes and stop boxes for
paving contractors:
(2j Supervising repairs to 42" water main at Rice & McCarron Blvd.
(3 Handling meter reading cards received in mail on�aturday:
jAND WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
_ circumstances:

(1) In order to finish inspections before paving contractors
started work.
�2 In order to speed repairs:
3� In order to have readings ready for billers on Monday;
TBEREF OREj, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby
4urthorize4 to pay the employees who performed such work in
accordance with the provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance,
Ordinance No. 64+6.
