WHEREAS, there has been a-great public demand that a driver
training program be initiated and operated in connection with
the public school program in the City of Saint Paul, and
WHEREAS, a number of public groups, organizations and bodies
as well as numerous private organizations, have indicated a
desire to assist and encourage such a; program, both financially
and otherwise,-and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Education of the
City of Saint Paul to accede to the request for such a driver
training program, inasmuch as such a program is now considered
imperative to provide the children of high school age a more
complete education so that they may better serve their community
as good citizens, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby
concurs in the:;resolution of the Board of Education of the City
of Saint Paul No. 2893 , whereby a driver training program
is to be establishe in connection with the public school system
of the City of Saint Paul, and hereby authorizes and directs that
a special fund'No. 1077 be created for the Board of Education of
the City of Saint Paul, to be known as the Driver Training Program
Fund; and be it � ti
FURTHER RESOLVED, that all receipts derived from the operation
of said driver training program shall be ddppsited in such special
fund, including tuition paid by students participating in said
program, and all gifts or donations received for purposes in con-
nection with the operation of the aforesaid program; and that dis-
bursements from said Fund shall be made therefrom as is customary
to disburse other funds of the Board of Education on vouchers,
issued through thejuperintendent of Schools, and periodically
audited and review y the Board of Education as in the case of other
vouchers authorizing expenditures on behalf of said Board; and be it

FURTHER RESOLVED, that with respect to the summer
program to be immediately initiated in connection with the
driver training program, salaries for instructors for such
summer program shall be paid out of the aforesaid special
fund No. 1077, with instructor salaries for the school year
to be paid as are other salaries out of the budget of the
Board of Education.
