Resolved, That the proper city officers
are hereby authorized to pay certain
employes in the Water Department for
extra employment as described in the
resolution.

WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accordance
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from May 16th to May 31st 1959 ince, which'
rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the
Water Department for more than eight hours per day or forty hours
per week in doing the following work:
j1j Repairing Filtration Plant equipment.
2 Working extra shifts at various stations.
3 Realigning and testing new pump and motor at Mississippi River
Station and repairing pump control at SteAnthony Station.
Taxing emergency calla at Storeyard*
5 Finishing installation of, and repairing water mains & service
connections & chlorinating new 30" Highland main.
(6 M Driving country crew to and from work locations.
Reading water level gauges*
AND WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
. circumstances:
1 Necessary to do work during low consumption hours.
2 Illness of employees on regular shifts,
3 In order to put pumps in service as quickly as possible.
4 Nights and Sundays*
5 In order to speed repairs and installations.
6 On account of scattered work locations.
7 Necessary to keep lakes at proper-levelse
THEREFOR$,p BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby
authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance
with the provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance, Ordinance
No* 6446*
