Dear Madam:
Thank you for your letter of August 14, 1959, notifying us of
the action taken by the Council of the City of St. Paul rela-
tive to the reconstruction of the sidewalk on both sides of
Wellesley Avenue from Macalester Avenue to Snelling Avenue.
We wish to advise that in replacing this sidewalk, we favor a
five -foot walk in place of the existing six -foot walk. We
shall greatly appreciate favorable consideration in the change
of width.

Dear Mrs. DeCourcy: l
Re: Preliminary Order 192269
This is to acknowledge receipt of your letter
of the 14th instant`relative to reconstructing the side-
walk on both sides of Wellesley Avenue from Macalester
Street to Snelling Avenue.
I do not believe that the sidewalk in front of my
home needs replacing. There are no cracked blocks. There are
a couple of blocks raised up slightly from the elm tree roots
but the rest is in good condition. `Last summer my daughter
at her expense replaced one block in the walk broken when the
C trimmers trimmed the trees on the block.
It would be far better if work was done on the alley
een Wellesley and Stanford. Earlier this summer a petition was ulated by a neighbor to have something done. There are large
holes• where the east -rest alley joins the north -south portion that
are constantly full of water after a rain. It has been between
twenty to thirty years since any real work has been done in this alley.
As a resident here for forty years this coming September, we would
like to see something done to the alley.
The sidewalk on the south side of Wellesley is in a
much worse condition because of roots and from being very uneven
in the middle of the block especially
Our nearest neighbors all feel that our walks do not
need attention at this time*
