WHEREAS, the City Council, on October 15, 2008 by Resolution Number CF08-1106, a�thorized the Director of Public
Works to apply to the Metropolitan Counci] for a grant for the installation and evaluation of Accessible Pedestrian Si�als at
existing signalized intersections; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul was awazded a$160,000 Metropolitan Councii New Freedom Fund Gra�t for Accessible
Pedestrian Signals; and
WHEREAS, the grant requires a match of loca] funds in the amount of $40,000; and
WHEREAS, there is available CIB funding in the 2009 Pedestrian Safety Program to fund the local match; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Secdon 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Sunt Paul, does cemfy that there aze available
for appropriation, funds of $4Q000 in excess of those estimated in the 2009 Capita] Improvement Budget; so
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Saint Paul accept said Metropolitan Council New Freedom Grant
and authorize the Director of Public W orks to sign the grant agreement, and
BE IT FURTAER RESOLVED by the Counci] of the City of Saim Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor and advice of
the Lqng Range Capital Impcovement Budget Committee, that $200,000 is available for appropriarion in the Capital
Improvement Budgets, as heretofore adopted and amended by this Council, be hereby further amended in the Improvement
Budgets, in the following partic�lazs:

Date: September 17, 2009
Attached is a budget resolution that would establish a spending and financing plan for the
2009 Accessible Pedesh Signals Project. $160,000 ofthe project budget will come
from a Metropolitan Council New Freedom Fund Grant for Accessible Pedestrian
Signals. Public Works pxoposes to fund tbe $40,000 local match requirement from its
2009 Pedestrian Safety annual program. That annual program is how Public Works
typically funds this type of work.
