OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK COUCJL �J RESOLUTION — GENERAL 'FORM PRESENTED BY G COMMISSIONER DATE WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from February 1 to 15, 1959, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Public Works for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: Emergency street, building, sewer & bridge repair Dispatching men for emergency repair work Dispatching motor vehicles for all emergency work Operating equipment on emergency repair work Emergency calls for sewer maintenance Removing snow and ice from city streets Putting up barricades for Winter Carnival Parade Removing ice rink from Fifth Street Tending fires at Asphalt Plant continuously Taking complaints at city yards Drawing plans for grading & paving jobs Council File No. 191061 —By Adrian P.1 Winkel— Resolved, That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay certain employes in the Department of Public Works for extra employment as de scribed in the resolution. Approved hrUary 21181 9 9 9) Mimeographing grade profiles & revising house numbers Servicing municipal equipment Making up sidewalk assessments Inspecting city improvement jobs AndWHEREAS, This emergency arose.by reason of the following facts and circumstances: Necessity of answering all emergency repair calls, keeping city streets free from snow and ice, putting up and removing barricades for Winter Carnival parade, removing ice rink from Fifth street, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant continuously, taking complaints, completing plans for grading and paving jobs, need for grade profiles and house numbers, completing sidewalk assessments, keeping city equipment in good running condition, and inspecting work done by contractors on city improvement jobs.
