the sum of $20.00, the fee paid by him in connection with

The City Council referred to the Department of Public
Works the request of Calvin Garley, 1720 North Snelling Drive, for
a permit for a parking lot in connection with a 19 -unit apartment
building he proposes to construct on the north side of Randolph
between Chatsworth and Pleasant Avenues. The request was referred
to this Department for a determination of whether or not the grant-
ing of the permit would conflict with the location of any proposed
freeway.

We have been informed by the State Highway Department
that it will very shortly review and approve the final layout of
the Pleasant Avenue Interstate Route submitted to the Highway De-
partment by its Consulting Engineers. While the final layout has
not been approved as yet, it appears that the three lots which are
of interest to Mr. Garley are in an area in which a ramp will be
placed for access onto the freeway from Randolph Avenue.
Consequently, until a final layout is approv @d by the
Highway Department, we do not feel that we could approve an applica-
tion to build a parking lot on the area in question.
