PAVLICES January 30, 1959 To the Honorable Mayor and Council of the City of St. Paul Gentlemen and Madam: Through the operation of the law with reference to the vacation of streets and alleys the City of St. Paul has previously acquired title to the south + of Burgess Street vacated, which adjoins our Public Works store yard on North Dale Street. I am advised by Mr. Koch that this por- tion of the street has been developed for a driveway which pro- bably encroaches on the north half of the street and that changing the driveway would probably cost several thousand dollars. In ad- dition, the development of the north + of Burgess Street would create a blind corner, making ingress to and egress from the store yard hazardous. I, therefore, recommend that application be made to the Commissioner of Taxation for a conveyance under the terms of MSA Section 282.01 of the forfeited land described as: that part of the north + of Burgess Street va- cated which adjoins Lots 28, 29, and 30, Block 4. Butterfield Syndicate Add. No. 2, for access to and enlargement of the Dale Street store yard. The parcel is zoned for light industrial purposes, as is the area on both sides of Dale Street in the immediate vicinity. Although the lots to the north of the parcel described above are developed for residential purposes, the remainder of Dale Street is developed for commercial and industrial uses.
