192969Original to City Clerk OR D, I NA N C E COUNCIL FILE NO. .19`?9s9 PRESENTED BY ORDINANCE -MO. 1 ry A n ordinance regulating_the sale of new bicycles in the City of Saint Paul, requiring that same be equipped with safety reflectors, and providing a penalty for the' violation thereof. This is an emergency ordinance rendered necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety. THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN: Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to sell or offer for sale in the City of Saint Paul, any new bicycle unless same is equipped with such reflector as is prescribed by Subdivision 6 of Section 169.221 of Minnesota Statutes. Such ref lector shall be a red reflector on the rear of the bicycle, visible from all distances from 50 feet to 300 feet to the rear of the bicycle when directly in front of lawful upper beams of head lamps on a motor vehicle. Section 2. Shy -tpex�6n;.rf irm or corporation violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than 10 days or more than 90 days, or by a fine of - y not less than $10.00 or more than $100.00. if z Lo u Section 3.
