application of Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for permit to install and
operate a 16 -car employe parking lot at the northwest corner of Beacon
and Shields, on Lot 62 and except the north 16 ft., Lot 63, Howard Park
Addition, in accordance with plans approved Oct. 23, 195$•

Dear Sir:.
This is in the matter of the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for a
permit to install and "operate'a sixteen ear - employee parking lot on pro-
perty locatdd adjacent to the nortbwest corner of Beacon and Shields
Avenues. This property is described as Lots 62, and except the north 16e
feet, lot 63�,Howard Park Addition. The zoning is "C`' Residence. In March
1958 the City Council granted a two story addition to the east side of
their building. -
The frontage of the parking area-is approximately 90 feet on Shields Avenue
and 80 feet on Beacon Avenue, providing space for approximately sixteen cars.
The adjacent land uses are as follows: the existing telephone building is
'to the west;1single family homes are to the north, fronting on Beacon Avenue;
a mixture of.various residential land uses are to the east and south.
The Traffic Engineer has approved the proposed layout and operation and
the plans meet existing standards for this type of facility. Field investi-
gation discloses no objection from the standpoint of adjacent land use or
traffic, and this proposed development will not be detrimental to the ad-
jacent property.
In consideration of the above factors, the Board of Zoning recommends that
this permit for a sixteen car employee parking lot be granted in accordance
with plans approved October 23, 1958.
