WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in accordance with
Section 53 of the'City Charter, the existence of an emergency during
the period from April 16 to 30, 1959, which rendered necessary the
employment of certain employees of the Department of Public'Works for
more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the
following work:
Emergency street, building, sewer & bridge repair
Dispatching men for all emergency work
Dispatching motor vehicles for emergency work
Operating equipment on emergency repair work
Emergency calls for sewer maintenance
Removing debris from city streets
Tending fires at Asphalt Plant on Sundays &
Taking care of complaints at city yards
Drawing plans & specifications for grading &

And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
Necessity of answering all emergency repair calls, keeping city streets
free from debir, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant continuously, taking
complaints at city yards, completing grading & paving plans, need for
grade profiles, completing sidewalk assessments, keeping city equipment
in good running condition and inspecting work done by contractors on
city streets, sewers & sidewalks.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby authorized
to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the
provisions of the Councils salary ordinance, Ordinance No . , 6446.
