A public hearing having been had upon the above improvement upon due notice, and the Council
having heard all persons, objections and recommendations relative thereto, and having fully considered
the same; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Council of the City of St. Paul that the precise nature, extent and kind of im-
provement to be made by the said City is to reconstruct the sidewalk on both sides of
Berkeley Ave. from Prior Ave. to Howell St., except where good and sufficient sidewalks
now exist
and the Council hereby orders said improvement to be made.
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Commissioner of Public Works be and is hereby instructed and
directed to prepare plans and specifications for said improvement, and submit same to the Council for
approval; that upon said approval, the proper city officials are hereby authorized and directed to pro-
ceed with the making of said improvement in accordance therewith.

OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL] RAMSEY COUNTY, MUNNESOTA
HONORABLE GENTLEMEN:
WEREAS Your Honorable body has notified the under-
signed that the Council of the City of Saint Paul has under considera-
tion Preliminary order 190956 approved_.February 10th,1959 which pro -
poses'to reconstruct the sidewalks on both sides of Berkeley Avenue
from Prior to Howell Street in said city' except where good and suffic-
ient sidewalks now exist* And
VEEREAS the estimated cost thereof is fifty cents (.50¢) a square
foot; gdditional work such as drivewayst tree. Iroot labor, fill over nor`-
mal excavation etc, will cost extras And
WHEREAS We believe that in some instances where such sidewalks are
in good condition or can be made so more cheaply by repairing them with
blocks or squares than by replacing them with entire new walks, and
this money can be saved the undersigned, And !W=-
WHEREAS, We the undersigned,are desirous of conserving and saving
all the money that we can in the matter of the repair of these sidewalks
to pay our ever increasing taxes and assessments City' County' State Y
and National,
NOW THEREFORE, We the undersigned directly affected by said order
respectfully petition your Honorable body that where such sidewalks can
be rapaired as above indicated and put in good and servicable condition,
more cheaply than by having new sidewalks installed' that your Honorable
body will order such sidewalks repaired and not replaced.
