WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accordance
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from March 19, 1959 to March 159, 1959 inclusive
which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of
the Department of Public Utilities for more than eight hours per
day or forty hours per week in doing the following work:
Checking bus schedules and loadings,
Making emergency repairs to street lighting circuits,
and
VOiEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circum-
stances:
Submission by the Street Railway Company of proposed
schedule changes,
Overtime night work required to restore street lighting service
therefore, be it immediately for public safetyp4_
RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the
employees who performed such work in accordance with the pro-
visions of the Council's Salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
