Holland — Resolved, That the proper City of- ficers are hereby authorized to payl certain employes in the-Department of Parks, Playgrounds =hnd, Public Build -' Ings for extra employment as described in the resolution. Adopted by the Council` March 5, 1959. Approved March 5, 1959. (March 7, 1959) t WHEREAS, Toe Commissioner of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings has reported, in accordance viith Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from February 16 to 28, 1959, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following workr Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and playgrounds and of their facilities. And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances Seasonal requirements for protection of public property and pursuit of departmental activities, such as: Tending the heating plant for the - Greenhouse and Zoo continuously; sanding boule- vards and parkways which had become slippery on a weekend; housemover, operating outside regular working hours, required the services of a tree trimmer; equipment had to be repaired and serviced to avoid delay next day; municipal athletics and sports and various other recreation programs and activities demanding services beyond regular time. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the - provisions of the Councils salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
