` BE IT RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council, meeting
in official session, hereby extends its commendation to Mr.
Robert Goldman, regional director, the Midwest Plains Babe
Ruth League, for his organization's outstanding conduct of
the annual tournament held here August 7th through 11th; and
BE IT FURTHER,RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council
extends its congratulations to local Babe Ruth League sponsors;
to the Midwest Plains Babe Ruth League officials; and to the
United States Babe Ruth League for outstanding contributions
to the youth of this area and the Nation; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council
has taken cognizance of the fact the Babe Ruth leagues and
their schedule of activities play an intimate role in the
lives of youth; bringing to our children an understanding
of true sportsmanship and a closer bond with .their team-
mates and opponents; and .l.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council
..was proud to serve as the official hosting body to the Midwest
;Plains Babe Ruth League annual tournament and believes the
facilities offered for that purpose at Midway Stadium are
the Nation's finest; and be it finally
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council does hereby
extend an invitation to the National Babe Ruth League to utilize
the facilities at Midway Stadium for their conduct of the 1960
annual tournament and that the City Council, in official
meeting, does hereby support the bid being made by Mr. Robert
Goldman, Regional Director of the Midwest Plains Babe Ruth
League, to attain the objective of bringing the U. S. Tournament
to the Nation's finest sports center: Saint Paul, Minnesota.
