Holland— Resolved, That the proper city offi- cers are hereby authorized to pay cer- tain employes in the Department of Parks, Playgrounds &Public Building for extra employment as described in the resolution. Adopted by the Council August 4,i 1959. Approved August 4, 1959. (August 8, 1959) WHEREAS, The Commissioner of parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the exist- ence of an emergency during the period from July 16 to 31, 1959, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work; Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and playgrounds and of their facilities. And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances; Seasonal requirements for protection of public property and pursuit of de- partmental activities, such as; Heavy, week -end patronagd at municipal golf courses, beach, pool, greenhouse and zoo; week -end maintenance at municipal ball fields and picnic areas; hymn sings, band concerts, dances, ice cream socials, usually held on Sundays and evenings; breakdowns requiring immediate electrical repairs at Public Works asphalt plant. THEREFCRE, BB IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the pro- visions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ord- inance No. 6146.
