WHIGS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accordance
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an XM rgency
ddring the period from 4pril_16th to April '30th 1959 inc., which
rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the
Water Department for more than eight hours per day or forty hours
per week im doimg the following work:
(1 Supervising engineering work on new 30" Highland Main.
(2 Handling meter reading cards received in the mail on Saturdays*-
(3 Special meter readings.
AND WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
1) In order to speed completion of job.
2 In order to have readings ready for billers on Monday:
3 Meters could be read only on Saturday:
THEREFORE] BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby
authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in
accordance with the provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance ,
Ordinance No. 64+6:
