WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks, Playgrounds and Public Buildings
has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter,
the esistenOO of an emergency wing the period from December 16
to 31, 1958, which rendered necessary the employment of :certain
employees of the Department of Parks.. Playgrounds and P%Lblia
Buildings for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per
week in doing the following work=
Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and
Protection of public Parks and playgrounds and
Of their facilities.
And Wjff2W, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances=
Seasonal requirements for protection of public
property and pursuit of departmental activities,
such ass Tending heating plant for the Greenhouse
and Zoo continuously; repairs to equipment When
forced by necessity to do the work after regular
hours; storm damage to boulevard trees produced
dangerous situations; sanding of boulevards and
Parkways could not wait for regular time attention;
municipal athletics and sports and various other
recreation programs and activities demanding
services beyomd regular time.
THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are helreby
authorized to pay the employees who performed such work
accordance with the provisions of the Couneilis salary 4inmees
Ordinance No. 64460
