WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in- accordance with
Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an enwrgency during
the--,period from January 1 to 15, 1959, which rendered necessary the
employment of certain employees of the Department of ftblic Works for
more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the
following work: —1
Emergency street, building, sewer & bridge repairs
Dispatching men for emergency repair work
Dispatching motor vehicles for all emergency work
Operating equipment on emergency repair work
Emergency calls for sewer maintenance
Removing snow and icp from city streets
Tending fires at Asphalt Plant continuously
Taking care of complaints at city yards
Drawing plans for grading & paving jobs
Mimeographing grade profiles & revising house numbers
Servicing municipal equipment
Making up sidewalk assessments
Inspecting city improvement Jobs
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the fo
circumstances:

Necessity of aswering all emergency repair calls, kee ng city streets
free fmm snow & ice, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant ntinuously,
taking complaints at city yards, completing plans for grading & paving
jobs, need for grade profiles and House numbers, comp ting sidewalk
assessments, keeping city equipment in good running c dition and
inspecting work done by contractors on streets and si walks.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers
to pay the employees who performed such work in ac

of Stem Hall in the Municipal Auditorium on March 2nd, 3rd,
4th and 5th, 1959, and the use of the Arena secti a on
March 4th, 1959, be given to the Farmers Union Central Exchange,
for its annual stockholders meeting, upon payment of $1000.00,
the balance of the cost of opening and operating on said
occasions to be set up in Auditorium Fund 1021.-
