WHERWO the Commissioner of Pablic Utilities has reported, in "cordance
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an *lergency
during the period from January 1st to January 15th, 1959, inc.,
which rendered necessary the employment of certain empl s of the
Water Department for more than eight hours per day or for hours
per week in doing the following works
(1) Supervising repairs to water mains.
(2) Handling meter reading cards received in the maid: on
AND WMEAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following fa ' and
circumstances t.
(1) In order to speed repairs.
(2) In order to have readings ready for billers on Monde .
TiEREFCRE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are by
authorised to pay the employees who performed such work
accordance with the provisions of the Council's Salary ance,
Ordinance No. 6446.
