Yublic Works, delivered to this Council,1 OFFICE OF THE CITYDe.parmentof Public Works for theirs acquisition b purchase of the tract I U CIL RESOLUTION —GUi z:ir4ce, of Tana situated in the city' 4, °t, i -Al. am-.ev. 4tat e.; PRESENTED BY COMMISSIONE DATE RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon due consideration of the report of the Commissioner of Public Works, delivered -'to this Council, upon the need of said City and its Department of Public Works for their acquisition, by purchase, of the tract or parcel of land situated in the City of Saint Paul, County of Ramsey, State of'Minnesota, described as follows: All those parts of Lots 2, 3, 4 and 5, Block 12, and of Lot 5, Block 13, Warren & Winslows addition to the Town of St. Paul, lying within the strips of land between the present southeasterly lines of Lafayette Road and lines parallel to and 14 feet distant-southeasterly from said southeasterly lines of said Lafayette Road, according to the recorded plat of said addition on file and of record in the office of the Register of Deeds in and for Ramsey County, Minnesota, for that certain public improvement contemplated by this Council by Preliminary Order No. 194247, now pending and contemplated to involve the opening, widening and extension of Lafayette Road from the Northern PRcific Railway Company's right -of -way to Collins Street, together with accompanying estimate of4bhe cost of said improvement, sketch plans and other data, giving,in full detail the nature of said improvement and the amount and estimated value of the land needed therefor, and a statement certified by the City Comptroller of the funds available or the manner in which said funds may be provided for said purpose, all pursuant thereto and in compliance with Section 302 of -said City's Charter, this Council hereby approves said project and,the acquisition of said hereinabove described tract or parcel of land therefor, among other parcels, contemplated to be acquired therefor by purchase or condemnation; that, if feasible, said hereinabove described tract or parcel of land shall be acquired for said purpose upon private sale by the Committee on Lands in the premises, comprised of the Mayor, Purchasing Agent and Commissioner of Public Works, which Committee shall secure options directly or thru agents for isaid City's purchase of said tract or parcel of land therefor, and report the total cost of acquiring the same and all other pertUient facts to this Council; that the cost of securing such options shall not exceed ten per cent of the value of said tract or parcel of -land; and that in the event said land cannot be secured at a reasonable price-by purchase, this Council shall direct the City's acquisition of *the same by condemnation, together with tracts or parcels of land needed for said public improvement.
