M RT I S (October 10, 1959) WHEREAS, THE COMMISSIONER OF LIBRARIES, AUDITORIUM, MUSEUMS .& .STADIA HAS REPORTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 51 OF THE CITY CHARTER THE EXISTENCE OF AN EMERGENCY DURING THE PERIOD FROM SEPTEMBER 1 TO 30, 1959, INCLUSIVE, WHICH RENDERED NECESSARY THE EMPLOYMENT OF CERTAIN EMPLOYEES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF LIBRARIES, AUDITORIUM, MUSEUMS, AND STADIA, BUREAU OF PUBLIC LIBRARIES? FOR MORE THAN s' EIGHT HOURS PER DAY OR FORTY HOURS PER WEEK IN DOING THE FOLLOWING WORK: (1) COVERING BOOKMOBILE SCHEDULE, (Z) COVERING SWITCHBOARD SCHEDULE, (3) BEING PRESENT AT BRANCH DURING EVENING MEETINGS OF THE PUBLIC, AND (4) DISPLAYING AMERICAN FLAG AT MAIN LIBRARY AND BRANCHES ON LABOR DAY, AND WHEREAS, THIS EMERGENCY AROSE BY REASON OF THE FOLLOWING FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES: COVERING BOOKMOBILE AND.SW1'TCHBOARD SCHEDULES BEING PRESENT DURING EVENING MEETING OF THE PUBLIC, AND DISPLAYING AMERICAN FLAG ON LABOR DAY, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE PROPER CITY OFFICERS ARE HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO PAY THE EMPLOYEES WHO PERFORMED SUCH WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISION OF THE COUNCIL'S SALARY ORDINANCE N0. 6446. 7 195 COUNCILMEN Adopted by the Council OCT 95— Yeas Nays OCT 71959 DeCourcy Rolland „��,Syitelli Mortinson Favor Peterson Rosen �� Against Mr. President, Dillon sm 6 -96 2 Approved 195 — Mayor
