W1 MEAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accordance s
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from September 1st to September 15th 1959 inc :,
Which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the
Water Department for more than eight hours per day or forty hours
per week in doing the following `cork:
(1) Repairing equipment at Filtration Plant and at various
_ pumping stations.
2 Working extra shifts at various stations.
3 Taking emergency calls at Storeyard:
4 Finishing installation of and repairing water mains,hydrants
and service connections:
�5� Driving country crew to and from work:
6 Reading gauges around the water -shed area:
AND WTI nS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
1 Necessary to do work during low consumption hours:
2 Absence of employees on regular shifts:
3 Nights and Sundays:
4 In order to speed installations and repairs:
5 On account of scattered work locations:
6) In order to keep lakes at proper levels:
T1BLEWORE., BE IT RESOLVED, that-the proper city officers are bereby
authorized.to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance
with the provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance, Ordinance
No: 6446:
