Dear Madam:
This is in the matter of the application of the Arrow Pontiac Company
to install a service parking lot in connection with their present
sales and service building adjoining on the south. The property is
described as all of Lot 1, and except the south 6 inches, Lot 2, Block 1,
Milham Park; and is located adjacent to the southwest corner of Snelling
Avenue and Shields Street.
The property under consideration was formerly developed with a residence
which has been removed. An application to construct a filling station
on this property was filed in May 1959, and withdrawn in December 1959.
The site has a frontage of 64 feet along Snelling Avenue and 126.7 feet
along Shields Avenue, resulting in an area of approximately 8, 109 square
feet. North across Shields Avenue are commercial uses; south and adjoin-
ing is the Arrow Pontiac sales and service building; east across Snelling
Avenue are the Twin City Rapid Transit garage and offices; west across
an improved alley is the Central Baptist Church on the southwest corner
of Shields Avenue and Roy Street.
This matter was considered by the Council on May 5th and denied because
of an inadequate plan. This plan has now been amended to reflect the
proper standards for this type of installation. It should also be
noted that the applicant's original request was for a used car sales lot
which has now been changed to a service storage lot. The Traffic Engineer
recommends approval of the amended plan, and field investigation discloses
no objections.
In consideration of the above factors, the Board of Zoning recommends
that the application for a service storage lot be approved in ac &ordance
with the amended plan dated June 16, 1960.
Sincerely,
-c J-
