Presented
WHEREAS, Tiny James Looney, devoted father of nine and former resident of Saint Paul, bravely served as Private First
Class in World War II, for the United States Army Air Corps, from 1943 until 1946; and
WHEREAS, Tiny James Looney, despite hazsh discrimination and strict racial segregation, answered the call to protect his
country as an Aviation Engineer and member of the prestigious Tuskegee Airmen project; and ,
WHERAS, Tiny James Looney not only built, but secured air strips for B-52 Bomber plane arrivals, while enduring enemy
sniper fire; and
WHEREAS, Tiny James Looney concunently served 22 months in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre; and
WHEREAS, Private First Class Tiny James Looney upon release from active duty, was honored with the World Waz II
Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal, the American Campaign Medal, and the
Army Good Conduct Medal; and
WHEREAS, Tiny James Looney worked faithfully for 38 years as a custodial engineer with Montgomery Ward; and
WHEREAS, Tiny James Looney died on ]anuary iQ 2008; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council commends Tiny James Looney for his contributions to American history, and
for his example of duty and cowage; and be it
FURHTER RESOLVED, that Saint Paul City Council honors the legacy of Tiny James Looney by declaring January ] 0,
2008, Tiny James Looney Day.
