A public hearing having been had upon the above improvement upon due notice, and the Council
having heard all persons, objections and recommendations relative thereto, and having fully considered
the same; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Council of the City of St. Paul that the precise nature, extent and kind of im-
provement to be made by the said City is. to reconstruct the sidewalk on both sides of
Hartfm�d Ave. from Hamlin Avenue to Edgcumbe Road, except where good and sufficient
sidewalks now exist
and the Council hereby orders said improvement to be made.
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Commissioner of Public Works be and is hereby instructed and
directed to prepare plans and specifications for said improvement, and submit same to the Council for
approval; that upon said approval, the proper city officials are hereby authorized and directed to pro-
ceed with the making of said imp p N ve 4 1 tt in0 accordance therewith.

matter of
Reconstructing sidewalk on both sides of Hartford from
Hamlin to Fdgcumbe Road
and find that said petition is insufficient.

We, the home owners located-on the North side of
Hartford Avenue between Griggs and Syndicate respectfully
petition the City Council of St: Paul to, eliminate this
.block from the preliqlinary Order No. 195950. The reasons
for this petition -are:
1. The condition of the present sidewalk is,
for the most part, good.
2. A relatively small amount of money spent
on repair would put it in first class shape
for the entire length of the block.
3. With constantly increasing taxes we all feel
that no home owner should be asked to bear any
assessments which aren't absolutely necessary.
4. To be forced to bear the expense of a new
sidewalk when the present one can be repaired
for much less money, we feel would be an entirely
unnecessary expense.

wish to state that I am opposed to reconstructing the
sidewalk from Hamline Ave. to Syndicate.....especially in ,
front of my property at 1288 Hartford Ave.
The sidewalk in this area is still in good shape and will
last many more years.
