OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK COU IL ESOLUTION - GENERAL FORM PRESENTED BY COMMISSIONER DATE WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings !zas reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from July 16 to 31, 1960, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Depdrtment of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings for more than eight hours per day of forty hours per week in doing the following work: coon i Fll Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and playgrounds and of their facilities. And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances; c e No. 196330 —By Frank L. Loss — Resolved, That the proper city offi- cers ,certain employes in the '-Departure t of Parks, Recreation & Public Buildings C for extra employment as described In the resolution. Adopted by the Council August 3, 1960. Approved August 3, 1960. (August 6, 1960) 1 Seasonal requirements for protection of public property and pursuit of depart- mental activities, such as: Civie events and muhicipal sports and playground programs required increased time and effort of an unforeseen but temporary nature; heavy weekend patronage at munici- pal golf courses, Zoo, Conservatory, Phalen Beach, Highland Pool and the I public parks; breakdown of equipment I rdquired immediate repair; and wind damage to boulevard trees demanded the services of tree trimmers outside regu- lar hours. i THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who per- formed such work in accordance with the provisions of the Councils salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
