PAUL COUNCIL NO FILE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK O CI RES TION— GENERAL FORM PRESENTED BY COMM ISSIONE DATE WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from Janaafiy 16 to 31, 1960, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work= Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and playgrounds and of their facilities. Holland — Resolved, That the proper City of- ficers are hereby authorized to pay certain employes in the Department of Parks, Recreation and Public Build- ings for extra employment as described in the resolution. (February 6, 1960) And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the follow. ing facts and circumstances: Seasonal requirements for protection of pubic property and pursuit of depart- mental activities, such as: Tending heating plant for the Greenhouse and Zoo around the clock; civic events and muni ei. pal sports and playground programs requir- ing employee assistance beyond regular time; sanding sidewalks and streets in public parks and boulevards and parkways_ - evenings and weekends; housemover operations on Sunday required services of a tree trimmer; equip- ment breakdown rega.ired extra -time repairs.
