WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in accordance with
Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during
the period from January 16 to 31, 1960, which rendered necessary the
employment of certain employees of the Department of Public Works for
more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the
following work: `
Emergency street, building, sewer & bridge repairs
Dispatching men for emergency repair work
Dispatching motor vehicles for all emergency work
Operating equipment on emergency repair work
Emergency calls for sewer maintenance
Removing snow and ice from city streets
Tending-fires at Asphalt Plant continuously
Taking -care of complaints at city yards
Drawing plans for grading & paving jobs
Servicing municipal equipment
Making up sidewalk assessments
Inspecting city improvement jobs
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
Necessity of answering all emergency calls, keeping city streets free
from snow and.ice, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant continuously, taking
complaints'-at city yards, completing grading & paving plans, completing
sidewalk assessments, keeping city equipment in good running condition
and inspecting work done by contractors on city streets & sewers.
THEREFORE BE IT
to pay the
