OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK CQU 1 SOLUTION - GENERAL FORM PRESENTED BY Cf1L./AA1551ANFR _ - DATF WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from January 1 to 15, 1960, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Public Works for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: Emergency street, building, sewer & bridge repair Dispatching men for emergency repair work Dispatching motor vehicles for all emergency Operating equipment on emergency repair work Emergency calls for sewer maintenance Removing snow and ice from city streets Tending fires at Asphalt PlantaDntinuously Taking care of complaints at city yards Drawing grading & paving plans Mimeographing grade profiles Servicing municipal equipment Making up sidewalk assessments Inspecting city improvement jobs work Council File No. 195425 —by Adrian P. Winkel — Resolved, That the proper city offi- cers are hereby authorized to pays certain employes in the Department of Public Works for extra employment as described in the resolution. Adopted' by the Council January 19, 1960. Approved January 19, 1960. (January 23, 1960) And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances: Necessity of answering all emergency calls, keeping city streets free from snow and ice, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant continuously, taking complaints at city yards, need for grading & paving speicifactions & grade profiles, completing sidewalk assessments, keeping city equip- ment in good running condition and inspecting work done by contractors on city streets, sidewalks & sewers. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
