PA whereas, The condition of the pres- ent East Sixth Street Bridge is such F E OF THE CI `that excessive maintenance costs are and will be encouAtered. and COU CI RESOLUTION - GENERAL FORM PRESENTED BY en COMMISSIONS DATE WHEREAS the condition of the present East Sixth Street Bridge is such that excessive maintenance costs are and will be encountered and WHEREAS, it has been necessary to impose special reduced load and speed limits on said bridge and WHEREAS, the presence of the aforesaid Sixth Street Bridge is causing delay in the expeditious accomplishment of necessary sewer, track, and bridge pier construction related to the construction by the Minnesota High- way Department of the new Interstate bridges to replace said Sixth Street Bridge, and WHEREAS, a detour for automobile use is now available utilizing Hoffman Avenue and East Fourth Street, now therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the closure and removal of the present Sixth Street Bridge on or about September 19, 1960, and after completion of the Kellogg Bridge resurfacing now underway, is hereby authorized and directed and be it further RESOLVED, that the Minnesota Highway Department be requested to preserve the Hoffman Avenue connection to East Sixth Street for automobile use, except for a 30 day period for reconstructing the intersection of East Sixth Street and Mounds Boulevard and be it further RESOLVED, that the detailed arrangements for accomplishing the fore - going shall be made between the Minnesota Highway Department and the Chief Engineer of the City, and be it further RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Metropolitan District Engineer of the Minnesota Highway Department. plarw COUNCILMEN Yeas Nays BeGaurcy- Holland Loss Tn Favor Mortinson Peterson Against Rosen Mr. President, Vavoulis 5M 5.50 c2 CEP 11960 Adopted by the Council 19— S E P 11960 r
