Whereas, It is necessary to have
specially trained men to act as golf
professionals at the Como, Highland
and Phalen golf courses respectively,
and
Whereas, Such special training re-
quires:
1. Ability to repair golf clubs and
advise in their use.

WHEREAS, It is necessary to have specially trained men to act as golf profes-
sionals at the Como, Highland and Phalen golf courses respectively, and
WHEREAS, Such special training requires:
1. Ability to repair golf clubs and advise in their use.
2. Ability to oversee and regulate the playing upon an assigned course.
3. Ability to advise in connection with the construction and maintenance
of fairways and bunkers.
4. Ability to organize, train and direct caddies.
5. Experience in professional golf work and in teaching golf; and
WHEREAS, Frank Fiorito, Winton Christianson and Mitch Tardiff possess the
required ability-and have the required training, and the said Frank Fiorito, Winton
Christianson and Mitch Tardiff are willing to enter into a contract with the City of
Saint Paul to act as golf professionals at the Como, Highland and Phalen courses
respectively for the season of 1960, beginning April 1, 1960, and ending October 31,
1960, on the basis of $1, 500.00 each respectively for said period, plus the privilege
of retaining receipts,for_ teaching and the sale and repair of golf equipment, and
WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings has
recommended that a contract be entered into with the said Frank Fiorito, Winton
Christianson and Mitch Tardiff upon the aforesaid basis, excepting only that the
contract may be cancelled by the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public
Buildings at any time upon twenty -four hours written notice to the respective golf
professionals, of the fact that he so cancels the contract; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Council concurs in the recommendation of the Commissioner
of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings,` and the Corporation Counsel is hereby
authorized to draw the contract therefor, and the proper City officers are authorized
to e>ftl the same on behalf of the City.
