RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul,
that said Council, in behalf of said City and its people,
hereby takes and records official cognizance of the announce-
ment, yesterday, by the President Elect of the United States
of America, that he has selected Minnesota's Governor Orville
Freeman for appointment to the vitally important Cabinet post
of Secretary of Agriculture of our Country; that, hereby,
commendation is extended to the President Elect for the wid.dom
manifested by such selection together with an expression of
deep appreciation for the great honor incidentally thereby -
conferred upon the State of Minnesota and its citizenry, who
have been so well served by said Governor, who has consistently,
throughout his public career, manifested exceptionally high
- aptitude in governmental affairs and assiduously striven, in
all fields of the same, in the furtherance of the public interest
and the security of our constitutional form of government;
and that, based upon such record of high public service and
mindful of his high intellectual, educational and professional
attainments, which are matters of common observation and comment
throughout this State and this Nation, confidence is hereby
expressed in the security of every interest of our Country
which shall be committed to our Governor in his new post as
such Secretary, of Agriculture;
RESOLVED, FURTHER, that a certified copy of this
resolution be prepared by the City Clerk and delivered to
the President Elect, John F. Kennedy, with all convenient
speed.
