WIiEREAS, Family-owned businesses and the hard working men and women they employ are the backbone of Saint Paul's
growing economy; and,
WHEREAS, Johnson Brothers Liquor Company and the members of Teamsters Local 792 aze prime examples of what it takes
to make Saint Paul a strong and healthy community; and,
WIIEREAS, Johnson Brothers Liquor Company has a long history in Saint Paul and is recognized as being a loyal, honest and
dependable business partner, providing customers with quality service, while representing suppliers with professionalism and
integrity; and,
WHEREAS, Johnson Brothers' most valued resource, its employees, par[iculazly those truck drivers and wazehouse workers
represented by Teamsters Local 792, deserve aedit for helping the company grow into one of the best wine and spuit
distributors in the country; and,
WHERREAS, Cooperative labor management relations aze a part of Saint PauPs civic identity, dating back to the resolution of
the Teamsters strike of 1934, and are essential to the economic well-being of the city; and,
WHEREAS, Discussions between Johnson Brothers Liquor Company and Teamsters 792 have been at an impasse since
February 28, 2008, when the contract with Johnson Brothers Liquor Company expued and Teamsters Loca1792 went on sh�ike;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council encourages Johnson Brothers Liquor Company and
Teamsters Loca] 792 to go back to the bargaining table, negotiate in good faith, and reach a fair agreement that gets the 70 truck
drivers and wazehouse workers of Teamsters Loca1792 back to work and keeps Johnson Brothers Liquor Company and the City
of Saint Pau] moving forward.
