ZONING,, CITY OF SAINT PAUL 1315 CITY HALL AND COURT HOUSE SAINT PAUL 4, MINNESOTA May 2 6, 196o Mr. Joseph Okoneski City Clerk Biilding Dear Sir: This is in the matter of the application of Hamlin University for a permit to install and operate a parking lot on vacated Asbury Street between Taylor and Hewitt Avenues. This property is described as that part of vacated Asbury Street lying between the north line of Hewitt Avenue and the south line of Taylor Avenue. The zoning is "Bu residence and has been since the street vacation in 1958. Asbury Street as described above was vacated by the City Council on November 15, 1958, and is now owned by the applicant who proposes to install and operate a 45 car public parking lot for students and guests of the college. The property under consideration has a front- age of 100 feet on both Hewitt and Taylor Avenues and runs continu- ously between said streets for a distance of 350 feet, resulting in a -total area of 35,000 square feet. The site is adjoined or surrounded by the Hamlin University Campus grounds. The Traffic Engineer approves the plan which meets the standards for this type of facility. Field investigation discloses no objection to the proposed use as it would provide much needed parking space. In consideration of the above factors, the Board of Zoning recommends the granting of the permit for a parking lot on the above described property in accordance with plans approved May 5, 1960.
