INTER- OFFICE COMMUNICATION

Mr. Robert F. Peterson
Commissioner of Public Safety
Dear Commissioner:
May 13, 1960
On June 18, 1959, Officer George A. Tateosian was injured on
duty and such injury caused him to be hospitalized and in-
capacitated up to this time. As you know, six months at full
pay is allowed an officer injured on duty and the- following
six months at half pay. On December 18, 1959, Officer Tateosian's
full JD time expired and at the time he was given one half a
vacation day and one half JD day to allow said officer a full
paycheck. Officer Tateosian had 12 vacation days due him at
the time of his accident and subsequently at the one -half JD
and one -half vacation day schedule he was not able to use hia
entire vacation for the year 1959. He used five days to the
end of the year and to enable him a full check, he was forced
to use sick days up to the present time.
Due to Civil Service rules it is impossible for an officer to
carry over vacation days for one year to the next. It would
appear proper at this time that a resolution be introduced in
the City Council that would allow Officer Tateosian the seven
vacation days due him for,the year 1959, and I would appreciate
your initiating such action.
Respectfully. submitted,
