RECOGIVIZING RON KLINE FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF SERVICE
TO THE CTTY OF SAINT PAUL
WI�REAS, Ron Kline is a native of Saint Paul, having been born in the city at Midway Hospital and spending his
formative years growing up in the St. Anthony Pazk neighborhood, graduating from Cretin High School, and
successfully completing his degree at the University of Minnesota; and,
Wf�REAS, Ron began working for the ciry in 1973, serving as an Accountant I; EDP Systems Anaiyst I; Budget
Analyst I, II, III, and N; Chief Budget Analqst, and Acting Director of the Office of Financial Services; and,
WHEREAS, over his nearly 35 years of service, Ron has helped the city transition through many changes in
technology—from the city's first budget system to the current finance system—slowly bringing the ciry into the
twenTy-first century; and,
WHEREAS, Ron is known as the "go to" guy in the budget office, developing new concepts and procedures which
have greatly improved the financial management of the city and simplified the city's budget process; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have benefited greatly from Ron's analysis and advice, particularly when they
chose to listen tr� it; and,
WHEREAS, Ron has been a mentor and friend to staff in the office of financia] services and, having survived his
tutelage, he leaves behind a talented budget staff capable of supporting the Mayor and Ciry Council's highest
expectations; and,
WHEREAS, Ron is reluctantly leaving the city after almost 35 years of service to spand more time at his cabin in the
north woods—and he might even invite his wife Deb, his daughters and his son to join him;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council congratulates Ron Kline on his
retirement, recognizes him as a most valued city employee, lauds him for his work to make Saint Paul a prosperous
and successful community, and thanks him for his thirty-four years (plus) of service to the City of Saint Paul.
