PAUL FILE NO NO OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK COUNCIESOLUTION- GENERAL FORM WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency dlring the period from August 1 to 15, 1960, which rendebed necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings for more than eight hours per day of forty hours per week in doing the following work; Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and playgrounds and of their facilities. And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances; Seasonal requirements for protection of public property and pursuit of depart- mental activities, such as; Civic events and municipal sports and playground programs required increased time and effort of an unforeseen but temporary nature; heavy weekend patronage at munici- pal golf courses, Zoo, Conservatory, Phalen Beach, Highland Pool and the public parks; breakdown of equipment required immediate repair; and service to contractors on public work which time will be charged back. (August 20, 1960) THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who per- formed such work in accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
